Creative Advent Calendars

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it is time to start preparing for Christmas! YAY!!!!

One of the things we always did when I was a kid was put up an Advent calendar. Ours told the story of Mary, Joseph, and their journey to Bethlehem. I loved reading little bits of the story every day.

Since I am on my own, I would like to get into the Christmas spirit with a new advent calendar. Here are some ideas to inspire your own calendar!

Little Gift Advent Calendars:

Instead of chocolate or candy, maybe include some fun stickers or easy craft projects for little kids!

For older kids or teens, jewelry, playing cards or ornaments would be good choices.

Cute packaging definitely makes the calendar more fun!

Cute Advent Calendar Wrappings

Fill bags or boxes with ornaments you already own (and maybe one or two new ones!). Each day your child gets to put a different one on the tree!

Activity or Scripture Advent Calendars:

An adorable DIY calendar from a magnetic board and spice containers. A little too much work for me this year, but if you have the time it would be a perfect reusable Advent Calendar. Good for kids!

Scripture Advent Calendar

Print the "25 Days of Christmas Scripture Chain" verses, put them in separate envelopes and read one each day.

Adults Only Advent Calendars:

If you're a beer lover it would be fun to do this with 24 beers that you've never tried before!

If you live with others that drink wine this would be a fun way to celebrate the holidays! (This photo is actually for table numbers. Which would be a fun way to do work parties or other large functions!)
